Alpha lipoic acid is an organosulfur compound derived from caprylic acid (octanoic acid). Alpha-lipoic acid is both water- and fat-soluble, which allows it to work in various parts of the body, including inside and outside of cells.
Alpha lipoic acid has strong antioxidant properties, it helps neutralize free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can cause damage to cells. Alpha lipoic acid may have benefits for skin health.
Function
1. Regenerates the antioxidant activity of vitamin C, vitamin E and coenzyme Q10.
2. May increase levels of glutathione, the body’s most important antioxidant.
